Women in Sport is the leading charity who’s vision it is for a society where gender equality exists in every sphere. With over 30 years’ experience we are advancing gender equality through and within sport; empowering women and girls through sport and transforming the sport sector.

We are looking for an Innovation Officer to support our ambition to empower women and girls through sport to join the team to help support us in delivering Project 51 and Women in Sport workshops.

In the summer of 2017 Comic Relief awarded a grant to Women in Sport and Sported to deliver the ‘Project 51’ programme. Project 51 Sport for Change programme is aimed at helping young women and girls aged 11-18 years old in the most socially deprived areas of the UK to fulfil their potential by opening up access to sport and challenge gender stereotypes.

A key element of this role will be to deliver Women in Sport’s elements of the Project 51 programme, working in partnership with Sported.

We need someone who has:


  • A passion for women’s sport
  • Proven experience in project delivery
  • Strong project administration
  • Experience of working with young people
  • Strong writing skills including experience drafting newsletter content, website copy, blogs, e-mails, case studies and social media content. Digital proficiency in uploading content to social media and websites.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Experience working on CRM systems desirable but not essential.
  • Experience of presenting or delivering training to small groups is desirable but not essential

The role will focus on sharing Women in Sport’s insights and learnings of how to best engage girls in sport and physical activity and providing partners with support, both through Project 51 and to our wider stakeholders. This will centre on sharing existing insight, generating new learnings through Project 51 and curating the information into useable communications to be delivered via the Women in Sport online communication channels and workshops. This post will also be responsible for recruiting, training and supporting nine Young Influencers to bring a girls voice to Project 51 and Women in Sport.

This is a part-time role, 3 days per week, fixed-term until January 2020. The post can be based in either London or we will consider other bases around the country.
