Dr Steven Mann appointed Trustee of Women in Sport

Dr Steven Mann, Healthy Communities Director at Places Leisure, has joined the Board of Trustees at Women in Sport, the leading gender equality charity.

Mann, a former Research Director at ukactive, will take up his role on 1 January.

His role as a Trustee will include advising the charity on its research work. He will also chair Women in Sport’s Research and Advisory Group.

He replaces Professor Simon Chadwick who stepped down from his role as a Trustee and research advisor in July last year.

Mann has led on a number of large-scale evaluation and research studies, having developed and led the ukactive Research Institute that aims to generate knowledge, identify and promote best practice, and establish a reliable evidence base of what works in getting more people active.

Steven Mann commented: “I’m delighted to join Women in Sport’s Board of Trustees at this crucial time for gender equality and sport in the UK. I’m passionate about the charity’s cause and determined to help level the playing field for women and girls. I look forward to advising on some of the amazing work they’re doing.”
