Netball & Prosecco – the Abacas ladies play in style!

Abacas Netball Club stole the spotlight on last week’s Women’s Sport Wednesday, hosting a netball & prosecco evening in Corby, Northamptonshire.

It was the club’s ethos – getting women and girls active – as well as their Wednesday night training schedule that lined up with Women’s Sport Wednesdays perfectly. The ladies’ netball club came up with a fundraiser that would combine competition and fundraising initiatives, while maintaining a focus on the social aspect of the club as a welcoming environment that allows players to develop and meet new people.

The evening saw 27 players get into match play on the court, with several spectators enjoying the friendly competition from the side-lines.

The evening finished with plenty of prosecco and home-baked cakes to go around, with a raffle offering some great prizes. In total the club raised a very impressive £240 for Women in Sport, and another £104 for Cancer Research UK.

We are incredibly grateful to the women who took part in the Women’s Sport Wednesday fundraiser and to all those who made it happen.

Take a look at highlights from the evening below, and don’t forget to read more about the event in the Abacas blog post!
