Women’s Sport Week – an opportunity for everybody involved with playing, delivering, leading or working in sport to celebrate, raise awareness and increase the profile of women’s sport across the UK – it’s also a good opportunity to spray a Rounders bat gold!
Galvanised by the aim of Women’s Sport Week, Rounders England, along with five local delivery partners, have launched a Rounders Golden Bat Relay. Cornwall Sports Partnership kicked off the spectacle on Tuesday evening at their indoor venue in Newent. On Monday 10 October, Leagues4you in Gloucester will close the showcase.
For anyone not in the know, the golden bat symbolises a relay baton, which will be passed (not literally) from one group of Rounders playing women to another group of Rounders playing women, with a message to encourage more women and females to take up Rounders. The bats are golden because Rounders encourages you to be the best you can be and when you are playing you feel great!
The following delivery partners, in conjunction with Rounders England, are taking part in the Rounders Golden Bat Relay to help raise awareness of Rounders opportunities in their local area;
Tues 4th Oct: Cornwall Sports Partnership
Weds 5th Oct: Active Winchester
Thurs 6th Oct: Leeds City Council
Fri 7th Oct: Burnley Leisure
Mon 10th Oct: Gloucester Leagues for You
Anyone interested in this week’s antics can keep up-to-date on Rounders England’s Twitter feed @Rounders_England. They will be retweeting and highlighting all of the great work that is going on in your area.
