An all-female sailing crew has donated the prize money it won racing at Cowes Week to Women in Sport.
Team SCA showed its support for our mission to transform sport for every woman and girl in the UK by donating prize money from its successful Cowes Week campaign. The Team SCA ocean racing team, sponsored by leading global hygiene and forest products company SCA, selected Women in Sport as its chosen charity for the 2015 Artemis Challenge during Aberdeen Asset Management Cowes Week on the Isle of Wight.
Skippered by Carolijn Brouwer, the team raced to victory in the VO65 category, winning £1,000 in prize money which they generously donated towards our work.
The team celebrated another victory the previous day with navigator Libby Greenhalgh being awarded the Liz Earle Ladies Day Trophy, which recognises the outstanding contribution, commitment, or achievement of women in sailing.
Team SCA has now set off in the Fastnet Race, which runs 608 miles from Cowes to the Fastnet lighthouse off south-west Ireland, and then back to Plymouth.
