Women’s Ashes 2015

Commenting on the England and Wales Cricket Board’s announcement that the England women’s Ashes Series will, for the first time, have every ball of the seven match series broadcast live on Sky Sports and across BBC radio, Chief Executive of Women in Sport, Ruth Holdaway said:

“It is absolutely brilliant to see media outlets making such a fantastic commitment to women’s sport, and cricket in particular.

“The England women’s cricket team is now reaping the rewards of their recent success and Women in Sport is delighted and extremely encouraged to see this recognised by broadcasters.

“We applaud the ECB for their continued commitment to female cricketers and it is fantastic to see Sky and the BBC are ensuring women’s sport remains a top priority in sports broadcasting agendas.

“Women in Sport research shows that 60% of sports fans want to see more live coverage of women’s sport. With that in mind, we hope to see similar announcements from other sports in the near future.”
