Nominate today

Recognise a deserving girl today by nominating for the Girls Active Awards. It only takes 5 minutes. Deadline: 20 July 2018.

Winners will be brought to London for a high-profile awards ceremony in London in October 2018.

Girls Active

Women in Sport’s joint research with Youth Sport Trust of over 26,000 students in England and Northern Ireland shows that only 8% of teenage girls are meeting the Chief Medical Officer’s recommended daily exercise targets, while the figure for boys is double that at 16%. We want to change this to stop girls missing out on the lifelong benefits of sport.

Girls Active enables teachers to work in collaboration with girls, through consultation and leadership, to adapt PE lessons to better meet their needs and interests.

Stepping Up for Change

Following the success of the Girls Active programme Stepping Up For Change launched in  February 2018. Through this programme teenage girls already involved in Girls Active act as a bridge between inspiring primary-aged girls to keep active and embrace PE as they transition to secondary school.

Girls Active is developed by the Youth Sport Trust, delivered in partnership with Women in Sport and This Girl Can and funded through Sport England National Lottery. It celebrates involving girls in the design of PE and physical activity in primary and secondary schools.
