Women in Sport statement on football social media boycott

Women in Sport is uniting with The FA Women’s Super League, FA Women’s Championship, Women in Football and many others within football for a social media boycott from 3pm today (Friday 30th April) until midnight on Monday 3rd May.

We know that entrenched gender stereotypes, institutional bias and misogyny are holding women back in sport and we believe that they shouldn’t have to face discrimination, racism and horrific abuse online.

We are standing with the sector in calling for government to take action and social media companies to stop providing a platform for this toxic culture and enable everyone to enjoy the lifelong benefits of sport.
